SHG led action to augment Livelihoods through Entrepreneurship
Ekta Foundation had organized a meeting at it’s head office in Uttam Nagar, New Delhi with women self-help group (SHG) members. Our SHG group have helped in the distribution of food, facemasks, sanitizer kit and run food kitchens during India’s lockdown in year 2020 and 2021. Gayatri Acharya, who is the President of India’s National Rural Livelihood Mission, once said that – “women’s self-help groups have grown due to partnership with the government. This growth has significantly helped more impoverished rural communities.” Besides running these kitchens, women’s SHGs have also helped in creating personal protective equipment (PPE) kits and masks. These groups developed around 10,000 community kitchens throughout the country. They have also been bringing meals for sick and quarantined individuals.
Ekta Foundation has found that it is essential to take care of the nutritional needs of those who are economically disadvantaged, where poverty has resulted in them being malnourished, compromising their ability to either study or earn a living. Our Chairman address to the group of our upcoming projects on SHG led action to augment Livelihoods through Entrepreneurship, to setup 15 food stall/community kitchens at West Delhi.
